Connect with Community Participate in the “Community Arts Map” Project

“Community Arts Map” Project was first launched in the 7th AAiSS and received enthusiastic response from school. It collected 85 drawings from 60 schools and the first “Community Arts Map” was published in November 2015. It is hoped that the project will allow Arts Ambassadors and their classmates to further understand the communities, and produce arts maps that feature different communities based on their observations of the communities and life experience.

Miss Leung Wing-yan / Tseung Kwan O Methodist Primary School

Work Title: The Dangerous Zone

“When students saw the construction sites around the school, the idea of making a map for dangerous zones came to mind. Children’s idea of danger is very different from that of adults. For instance, they think it is dangerous for old men to play cards in the park; it is dangerous to attend tutorials late at night. These are very interesting elements and observations to be recorded on the map.”

Miss Chan Chu-suen / S.K.H. Tsing Yi Chu Yan Primary School

Work Title: The Entertaining Tsing Yi Matshed

“The interviews for the two festivals were affected by the rainy weather. The students completed their shooting of and interviews with dozens of the vendors despite the heat and rain. They discovered vintage food that is rare nowadays. These are unforgettable experiences. I believe the creation of the community arts map can benefit the students greatly on the cultivation of their interest in arts as well as their personal growth.”
